antonyms:

A word having a meaning opposite to that of a different word (i.e. hot/cold, wet/dry)

well when you contrast to different thingd your telling the differences between then. but antonyms are words that are oppisites, like light and dark. but you could contrast almost anything, like for example, if i contrast peanut butter and jelly then one contrastion is that one is brown and the other is either purple or red.
